Pennsylvania residents who are thinking about relocating to another state might be interested to hear about a report that revealed that Maine has the highest rate of serious workplace injuries in the United States. New York has the lowest. The report was published by Allsup, a nationwide provider of Social Security disability insurance.
According to the report, the majority of the workplace injuries in Maine come from the nursing and residential care facilities as well as from building materials and garden equipment. Out of 100 workers in the nursing and residential care facility industry, 7.1 one of them are involved in a workplace accident. The report also revealed that in New York, the most dangerous industries are those involving beer, wine and alcoholic beverage wholesalers. Out of 100 workers in these industries in New York, 0.5 are injured.
The Allsup report utilized data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics, which showed that more than a million workers every year in the United States experience a workplace injury that causes them to miss one or more days from work. The report also stated that, even though the rates for injuries in certain industries can vary from state to state, there are other factors that make the workplace dangers different from state to state.
Workers who are injured in accidents could decide to file workers’ compensation claims. These claims allow workers to seek compensation for their injuries. Workers’ compensation can serve as a form of insurance that allows people to collect specified amounts of medical benefits for their injuries. Lawyers might be able to assist workers in filing their workers’ compensation claims and help them to negotiate favorable settlements for their medical bills and expenses.
